Finally quite soon after the release of the Kobo Elipsa, Kobo announces a new Kobo Elipsa 2E which has the same ingredients as the previous generation.
Presentation of the Kobo Elipsa 2E
More than a real novelty, this Kobo Elipsa 2E looks more like a re-release with some improvements that will enrich the Elipsa with small novelties.
We can mention the new Kobo Stylus 2 but it is especially the presence of the ComfortLight Pro lighting system that allows to adjust the color temperature that we will remember. Indeed, the previous generation of the e-reader did not offer this function which allows to illuminate the screen in a yellow/orange tint which allows to limit the effects of the blue light.
Another new feature, or rather fix: the note-taking software has been revised and now allows the use of default page templates or handwriting recognition (OCR).
The screen remains the same, so does the price.
Kobo also emphasizes the eco-design of its e-reader by highlighting the use of recycled plastics for the manufacture of its e-reader (as for the Kobo Clara 2E).

Opinions on the Kobo Elipsa 2E e-reader
It is a small evolution more marketing than anything else that Kobo launches even if the addition of the blue light filter on the lighting will satisfy the big readers who always look for more comfort.
This e-reader is above all a work tool that will help you work on digital documents (especially PDF) and take handwritten notes to transfer them easily to a digital medium (Kobo Cloud works with Dropbox and soon Google Drive).
For reading enthusiasts, the $399 price tag (to which it is necessary to add a protective case at $69,99) is quite difficult to swallow as cheaper e-reader models already do the job very well (Kobo Libra 2, Kindle Paperwhite, etc.).
So the Kobo Elipsa 2E comes mainly to correct its flaws to allow it to compete more effectively with the Bookeen Notéa (which will soon return to store shelves) and the Kindle Scribe.
