bookeen notéa the french alternative to the remarkable

It's the end of the road for the popular Bookeen Notéa, which is expected to bow out this year and will no longer be offered by the French brand Vivlio. But don't worry, support will still be available!

Vivlio has confirmed that 2025 will be the final year for the Bookeen Notéa. After one last shipment to meet the remaining demand for this e-reader, it will no longer be available.

For the moment, you can still find a few copies in stores or online, but this probably won't last long.

With the success of the new color models, Vivlio (which now owns the French Bookeen brand) is focused on meeting the demands of its customers. The company is therefore concentrating on these new models, which seem to be of increasing interest to readers.

With a design and black and white screen that now seem to appeal to a smaller audience, it makes sense that 2025 will be the Bookeen Notéa's last year.

The Bookeen Notéa was released in 2021 (and re-released in 2023). It's a high-end French e-reader with a 10.3-inch black and white electronic ink touchscreen and a stylus, combining ebook reading and note-taking that offered a compelling French-made alternative to the popular ReMarkable e-reader.

It stands out for its versatility, allowing you to read ebooks, PDFs and comics, while offering productivity features through Android apps. Although it is imposing, its modern design and stereo speakers make it an interesting device more suitable for professionals than novel readers (it is too large).

It is also a machine that is still very popular for people who suffer from a visual impairment and who want a very large screen to enlarge the characters of digital books as much as possible.

It's still a bit of a shame, as it's one of the few European alternatives – French at that – to the Kindle, Kobo, or Onyx products that are now very present in Europe.

But it's true that these brands offer more recent machines with color electronic ink screen technologies, for example, in the case of Onyx or ReMarkable. Even if the price is much higher.

Because, with its price of €399, the Bookeen Notéa is still a good opportunity for people attracted to this kind of tablet / e-reader / digital notepad.

And, for owners of this machine, you can rest assured that support will still be provided for a while.
