Vivlio InkPad Color 3: The Large Screen Color E-Reader Finally Available in France

Vivlio InkPad Color 3 e-reader

The French company Vivlio will soon launch an all-new large-screen color e-reader: the Vivlio InkPad Color 3.

You may already know that Vivlio will also be releasing a new 6-inch color e-reader in a few days: the Vivlio Light HD Color.

Additionally, I’ve learned that the company based in the French city Lyon is preparing to unveil a larger device featuring a 7.8-inch Kaleido 3 color e-ink screen: the Vivlio InkPad Color 3.

The Kaleido 3 screen is the latest available and offers a truly convincing color e-ink technology. If you would like to see what this type of display can do, I encourage you to check out my recent reviews of color e-readers for a glimpse of their performance.

The good news doesn’t stop there, as this e-reader is also waterproof (IPX8), supports audiobook playback (in MP3 via Bluetooth or with text-to-speech synthesis), and features a touchscreen with SmartLight technology (which filters blue light).

Here are the technical specifications for the Vivlio InkPad Color 3:

  • E Ink Kaleido 3 color screen
  • 1.8 GHz quad-core processor
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 32 GB of storage
  • Waterproof with IPX8 certification
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • Speaker
  • USB
  • Gyroscope for automatic screen orientation
  • Audio compatibility: MP3, OGG, M4A
  • E-book format compatibility: AZW, EPUB, DOC, DOCX, FB2, CBR, CBZ, HTML, PDF, RTF, and RXT (compatible with Adobe DRM)
Vivlio InkPad Color 3 e-reader

If you didn’t know, Vivlio utilizes hardware from the Pocketbook brand. Unsurprisingly, this InkPad 3 Color already exists—and has proven itself—in other countries under the Pocketbook brand.

However, the Vivlio InkPad Color 3 also offers unique French features with software that is perfectly translated, along with a built-in library that boasts a well-stocked French-speaking catalog, including both eBooks and audiobooks.

The price for this e-reader is currently set at a preorder price of €309.99, which seems a bit high to me, despite its significant advantages: notably, the large color screen that should delight fans of comics and graphic novels.

If you’re looking for a similar model but with a black-and-white display, I highly recommend reading my review of the recently released Pocketbook InkPad 4.

You will soon be able to preorder this e-reader on the Vivlio website.
