Onyx Boox Note Air3 C color e-reader with android 12

The year 2024 is clearly the year of the color e-reader. While the general press has largely shunned this movement, sites such as MyEreader.net are overtaken by the regular release of new models. However, the Onyx Boox Note Air3 C is one of the e-readers that caught my eye.

Indeed, hardly a week goes by without a new e-reader or tablet with electronic ink screen being released somewhere in the world.

So it's necessary to make a selection and pick out only the interesting models.

The Onyx Boox Note Air3 C is a full-color e-reader (Kaleido 3 e-ink technology) with an extra-large 10.3" screen, stylus and protective cover.

This is the most high-end machine I've been able to get my hands on - because yes, I do have one on my desk right now, so I'll be able to do a full review soon.

With an Android 12 operating system, a full-color e-ink screen and the whole Android ecosystem providing access to numerous applications for entertainment or work, this e-reader has it all.

Its design is resolutely modern, and the machine is built on an aluminum chassis that makes it light and luxurious.

In addition to the classic functions for taking notes and adding notes to ebooks, there's handwriting recognition via artificial intelligence.

There's also a text-to-speech function and all the Android tools you need to work on your e-mails and surf the web.

Onyx is also aware of one of the shortcomings of e-ink, namely the screen refresh rate, which is slower than with a conventional LED or LCD screen. For this, they use Super Refresh BSR² technology, which should greatly improve things on the color screen.

Note that there's also a black-and-white e-ink version (Carta 1200 HD) of the Onyx Boox Note Air3, and that the color version adds the letter C behind the name: Onyx Boox Note Air3 C.

It's this color version that will be reviewed in detail over the coming weeks.

With a price tag of around $500 for the complete package (including cover and stylus), this Onyx e-reader is reserved for book nerds and comic book readers, or people looking for a digital work tool to dematerialize their workflows as much as possible.

See you in 2 or 3 weeks for a full review of this Onyx Boox Note Air3 C e-reader.
