TL;DR: The XTEINK X4 Pro is a tiny 4.3-inch black-and-white e-ink reader that went on sale July 21 for $99 on the maker’s website. Compared to the regular X4, it adds a touchscreen and a front light, along with a bigger 1100mAh battery. The catch: it drops USB-C for a proprietary pin connector, and the stock software still looks weak (though a Crosspoint version may be on the way). This isn’t a review, just a first look at the specs.

TL;DR: CrossPoint is a free, open-source firmware that replaces the limited stock software on Xteink X3 and X4 e-readers. You install it from a computer over USB-C, straight from your browser (use Chrome or Edge). If you bought your device on AliExpress, it may be USB-locked, so you’ll need to unlock it first with the Xteink Unlocker tool; if you bought it from the official xteink.com site, you can flash CrossPoint right away. When it’s done, the e-reader restarts on CrossPoint, and you can always go back to the original system later.
