Onyx just released two second-generation Go Tablet 10.3 models, one with a front-lit screen and one without. Both run Google Android 15 and come with the Google Play Store, allowing you to install apps.
TLDR: Onyx Boox just released two second-generation Go Tablet 10.3 models, a 10.3-inch B&W e-ink tablet running Android 15 with Google Play Store, stylus support, and 300 PPI resolution. The base model costs around $419 (no front light), while the Lumi version adds a warm/cool front light for about $449. Both come with a stylus and magnetic case included. These are work-oriented tablets that directly compete with the reMarkable 2, offering more flexibility thanks to Android, and are great for PDFs, note-taking, and manga reading.
Boox (Onyx) seems to be going head-to-head with the reMarkable 2 digital notepad with this new generation of Go Tablet 10.3.
We’re still looking at a 10-inch black-and-white e-ink screen with a sharp resolution of 2480 x 1860 pixels (300 PPI) and stylus support. The price sits at around $419 for the version without a front light. But be careful, the price is the same as the previous generation, so make sure you’re picking the right one when you buy (double-check before ordering).
The main drawback of this device is that it has no screen lighting. Thankfully, the Boox Go Tablet 10.3 Lumi fixes that for only about $30 more (around $449). This is obviously the version I’d recommend since you’ll get a nice front light with a blue light filter (or, in other words, adjustable color temperature).

Another strong point of these devices: an Android 15 operating system that lets you add new apps, especially productivity tools.
I’ve already tested this kind of setup on a Bigme e-reader running Android, where I installed the Claude app with very interesting results.

These devices are more work-oriented tablets than e-readers meant for reading books or comics.

Worth noting: there’s no color e-ink screen here. You’ll have to settle for a black-and-white display, but it offers sharp resolution that makes these devices really appealing for reading PDF documents and manga, especially if you want a large screen and maybe even display two pages side by side.
The price is in line with what you’d expect for this kind of device, especially since a stylus and a magnetic protective case are both included. All things considered, it’s actually a pretty solid deal!
If you’d like to learn more about this type of e-ink tablet, I’ve reviewed a few of them (check out my e-reader reviews page).
With devices like these, reMarkable definitely has reason to worry: Chinese manufacturers are improving their products very quickly, and the inclusion of a more open system like Android offers a lot more for less money.
